A Successful Opening Night
November 7th saw the opening night of Our Great Southern Land Exhibition 2019.
Months of planning had finally came to an end. Agonising over which images to enter. How and where to print them and what size to print them, had consumed us for months. Forty-eight members of the Victorian Photographers Collective were taking part. One hundred and forty five images. All this led to one hundred and four tickets sold for opening night. All of us mingling at Magnet Gallery, in the Docklands.
Adam Dyson, Landscape Photographer and content creator from Melbourne, opened the exhibition for us. Adam is a talented professional photographer, who hosts workshops as well as selling his images.
Two awards were presented on the night. They were chosen by Michael and Susanne Silver, Managers of Magnet Gallery. The award for Most Outstanding Image went to Niki Rogalski for Old Time Melbourne. Runner up was Sandy Goddard for a pair of images, of a salt lake in SA.
Most Outstanding Image
The theme of the exhibition – Our Great Southern Land Exhibition 2019, covered all subjects of photography. The only ‘rule’ being they had to be taken in Australia. Subject could be anything from landscape to nature, or macro, portrait or concept. The images ranged in size from A4 to panoramic, and they were presented framed, on canvas, or aluminium and acrylic.
Images in the galleries above and below were taken by Albert Tay
